Better Together: Unite for TeamDaisy

One of the main goals of the Team Daisy charity is to further develop the bereavement services within the maternity wards at their local hospitals. Effort focused into this would result in parents who have just lost their newborns having alternate options when having to revisit the hospital for follow up information. Imagine having to return to the same areas of the wards and relive the trauma, or have to see and hear the cries of other newborns during a time of extreme and of course frustration. Along with the Northampton Health Charity, we have been working tirelessly to fundraise for Northampton General Hospital’s Daisy Suite Appeal. Previously known as the Forget Me Not Appeal, now renamed to commemorate Daisy, this fundraising cause will create a state of the art aftercare suite where bereavement midwives can provide aid in a non triggering environment.

In no particular order we’d like to give a special thank you to a few organisations. Firstly, the charities who have provided a helping hand within the times of need for the Chalmer’s family. If you are not familiar with the work of Tommy’s, they are a charity that funds research into miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth (the largest in the UK in fact!). Between the amazing wealth of after care received by the Chalmer’s from them and the extensive research work they carry out, they definitely deserve your attention. Another huge contributor to this field is SANDs (The Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Charity) based in the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in London. SANDS are a leading pioneer in research and taking care of those going through neo and post natal bereavement. Finally we want to give a mention to Children are Butterflies, a now sadly defunct, local Northampton charity that alongside Tommy’s and SANDs were present giving advice and care following the loss of Daisy.

“There is no foot too small that it cannot leave an imprint on this world”

Last but certainly not least, Monks Park WMC, a local social club based in central Northampton who have hosted our recent events. Alongside their advocacy, they have also sold football memorabilia with the proceeds providing a much needed financial boost towards the Daisy Suite. We hope to work with Monks Park WMC further in the future, with our next two comedy events coming next year!.

“There is no foot too small that it cannot leave an imprint on this world.” this saying speaks to our charity at it’s core. The legacy of Daisy will forever live on, not only in our hearts, but in the hearts of those who have been through similar loss and those will benefit from facilities such as the Daisy Suite.

Together we are united, together we are better.
